WAYS TO GET INVOLVED AT CAMP NORDEN CROSSLAKE

Volunteer as a Nurse

A nurse at Camp Norden Crosslake will distribute camper medications, monitor the health and wellbeing of cabin groups throughout the week, and communicate medical needs and concerns with Camp Norden Medical Director and leadership. Nurses will also support the Medical Director in care for campers in their cabins as needed and maintain a list of camper health concerns. Nurses will participate and facilitate camp programs and activities, and be a positive role model for campers.

Qualifications

  • Must have a proper Minnesota medical license (LPN/RN, NP, PA, MD, DO). We welcome any medical professionals to serve as the cabin nurse so long as they are licensed to provide care and administer medications.

  • Able to be present for training sessions and the entirety of the Camp Norden session, August 17-23.

  • Have the physical strength and endurance to maintain supervision of campers.

  • Have experience working with youth and have the ability to relate to youth in a positive manner.

  • Able to live amongst your campers for the week and uphold cabin and community standards.

Volunteer as a Counselor

A counselor at Camp Norden Crosslake would be responsible for monitoring the health and wellbeing of campers in their cabin group throughout the week and communicating camper needs to Camp Norden leadership and medical staff. Counselors will be positive role models to campers, encouraging them to try new things, make new friends and participate in camp activities. They should be positive, flexible and willing to adapt to changes throughout the week. They should be comfortable enforcing safety and emergency procedures, and generally work with other Camp Knutson staff to create the best camping experience possible!

Qualifications

  • Must be 21 years or older.

  • Able to be present for training sessions and the entirety of the Camp Norden session, August 17-23.

  • Have the physical strength and endurance to maintain supervision of campers.

  • Have experience working with youth and an ability to relate to youth in a positive manner.

  • Able to live amongst your campers for the week and uphold cabin and community standards.


Volunteer as a junior counselor

A Jr counselor at Camp Norden Crosslake would be responsible for communicating any camper needs to your campers counselor and/or Camp Norden leadership. Jr Counselors will be positive role models to campers, connecting with campers, encouraging them to try new things, make new friends and participate in camp activities. They should be positive, flexible and willing to adapt to changes throughout the week. They should be comfortable enforcing safety and emergency procedures, and generally work well with other Camp Knutson staff to create the best camping experience possible!

QUALIFICATIONS

  • Must be 18 years or older.

  • Able to be present for training sessions and the entirety of the Camp Norden session, August 17-23.

  • Have the physical strength and endurance to interact with campers.

  • Have the ability to relate to youth in a positive manner.

  • Able to live amongst your campers for the week and uphold cabin and community standards.

  • Previous camper experience at Camp Norden Crosslake preferred

Ways to get involved with Virtual camp

Volunteer as a Counselor

A counselor at virtual Camp Norden would be responsible for monitoring the wellbeing of campers in their group throughout the week and communicating camper needs to Camp Norden leadership. Counselors will be positive role models to campers, encouraging them to try new things, make new friends and participate in camp activities. They should be positive, flexible and willing to adapt to changes throughout the week.

skills & Qualifications:

  • Must be 17 years or older.

  • Able to be present for training sessions and the entirety of the Camp Norden session, June 23-26.

  • Have experience working with youth and an ability to relate to youth in a positive manner.

  • Enjoy listening and connecting with campers and fellow counselors.

  • Comfortable with Zoom (operating breakout rooms and being on camera.)

  • Creative problem solver and a good team player.

  • Own a Meta Quest 2 VR headset.

  • Enjoy helping others game or solve puzzles!
